Summerside doesn’t just produce renewable energy—it makes it accessible to you. Through initiatives like the "Heat for Less Now Program," Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) systems—such as water heaters, space heaters, and furnaces—work alongside Smart Grid technologies to store excess wind energy in your home's heating or hot water systems. This allows you to use clean, renewable energy instead of relying on fossil fuels or less efficient heating methods. Most utilities have on-peak and excess energy rates. Excess energy rates are less expensive than on peak and are offered during the night. ETS systems allow you to store this excess energy at night when it is less expensive and use it during the day.
 
Residents and businesses can participate directly in the city’s clean energy transition, reducing their bills and carbon footprint at the same time.
