The core responsibility of the Economic Development Office is to promote Summerside by contacting existing and potential Business and development clients who may provide investment and job creation in the community.

Michael Thususka, Director of Economic Development for the City of Summerside, has been working in the field of Economic Development for the past 14 years, five of which have been with the City of Summerside. Mike is the primary Economic Development contact for the City of Summerside, prior to that was Commercial Development Officer for the City of Brampton and has been practicing economic development for 20 years.

The office has been actively involved with many capital projects in the city to help address some of the infrastructure deficiencies, and Mike is also actively involved with small business and tourism sector in the area to ensure its future sustainability.

In addition Mike has been an active member of the Economic Developers Association of Canada since 1991 and has sat on the National Board of Directors since 1998, and a past president of the association.

With over twenty years of combined education and experience in development, marketing and municipal service, Nancy chose Summerside as the ideal place to live, raise her family and work. In the Economic Development Office, Nancy's focus on research provides important assessment tools and knowledge to assist in the attraction, retention and expansion of business.

Nancy is a Member in good standing with the Economic Development Association of Canada.
